The UIDAI website provides numerous options that help any applicant perform several functions. He/she can track the status of their Aadhar card, can update the Aadhaar card details like address, verify the mobile number, verify Aadhaar number etc. Downloading E-Aadhaar from the official website is one such useful option.
PS: Aadhaar card download from the official website is only possible if the applicant already has a registered mobile number and an enrolment ID or Aadhaar number.
- Enrolment ID

Enrolment ID will be recorded on the enrolment or acknowledgment slip provided by the staff from the enrolment center after the completion of the enrolment process, you can use this enrolment id here, and in case if you have lost your enrolment ID or if you need to find out your enrolment ID here is the step by step procedure PS: retrieving the information from UIDAI requires registered mobile number mandatory, if you don’t have a registered mobile number this method cannot be used. To register mobile number, I will mention the procedure after, explaining the step by step procedure of retrieving enrolment id. However, if you have provided an email ID during registration, this method can be used.
Retrieve lost enrolment ID
Step 1: visit the official UIDAI website https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: On the home screen of this page you can find a heading “Aadhaar Online Services” and few subheadings below and some other options under these sub-headings, Now below the subheading “Aadhaar Enrolment” you will find the option “Retrieve Lost UID/EID”. Select this option or click here https://resident.uidai.gov.in/find-uid-eid
Step 3: Now you will be redirected to a new page, or a new tab opens up with a heading “Retrieve EID/UID” and a fill-up form below it. On the left side, you will see two options to check, “Aadhaar Number (UID)” and “Enrolment Number (EID)” select to check the option you want.
Step 4: Now, fill in the fill-up form, this includes the full name, Email, Mobile, and code as displayed in the captcha near. Enter the details carefully and recheck.
Step 5: Now, click the “Send OTP” button after completing the fill-in, wait for a few minutes, the server will now send an OTP code to your registered Mobile number and Email ID.
Step 6: Check your mobile or email and enter the OTP in the box on the right side and press the “Verify OTP” button.
Now the details entered if matches the UIDAI server records, the “EID” will be displayed on the screen with the date and time.
Registered mobile number
None of the online processes on the UIDAI can be performed without a registered mobile number and email id. If you still have not registered your mobile number, visit the Aadhaar enrolment center and register your mobile number. PS: the server will send OTP codes both to the mobile number and email, but the OTP delivery to email takes comparatively more time than to a mobile number.
With all these details in hand, here is the step by step procedure to download you Aadhaar and E-Aadhaar.
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website or click here instead https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: On the home screen page, you will have a heading “Aadhaar Online Services” and 3 options below it. Under the “Aadhaar Enrolment” you will find an option that says “Download Aadhaar”, Select this option or click here instead https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/popup
Step 3: Now a new tab opens up with a fill-up form and the heading “E-Aadhaar”. At the beginning of the fill-up form, there will be an option that says “I have” and an option to select from two other option, “Enrolment ID” and “Aadhaar” select the option “Enrolment ID”
Step 4: When you select this option, the forms refreshes and now fill in the form with all the details as requested on the form this include, your Aadhaar number, full name, Pin Code, and the code as displayed in the Captcha.
Step 5: Now click the “Get One Time Password” button placed below this form. The server will send a Text message with OTP to your registered mobile number and email ID.
Step 6: Check your registered mobile or email id, now enter the OTP as received, below and press the button “Validate &Download”
Step 7: Now, if the entered OTP and the details match the Aadhaar records, the E-Aadhaar file will be downloaded as a Pdf file to your computer.
Step 8: The Pdf file is locked and you cannot open it without a valid password. Do not worry, the password to open your Pdf file is a combination of 8 characters. The first 4 characters are the first 4 letters of your Aadhaar submitted name and the remaining 4 characters is your date of birth. For example, if your name is Jayson Thomas and date of birth is 01-01-2000, then your password will be jays2000.
Once you enter the password, the Pdf file open and you can take print out of your E-Aadhaar.
