According to the UIDAI, it normally takes 2-4 weeks for the Aadhaar card hard copy to be delivered to you by postal services. What if a situation arises where you need to have Aadhaar card as a mandatory document before receiving this hard copy? To up-come this situation, the UIDAI has provided an option on their official website to download an Aadhaar card from their database. This Aadhaar card is referred to as E-Aadhaar and the UIDAI had declared that this card can be used as an identification document and almost all the government institution recognizes the E-Aadhaar. To download E-Aadhaar from UIDAI website here is some Pre-requisite.
- Enrolment ID/Aadhaar Number
- Registered mobile number in hand
Enrolment ID/ UID number
For downloading the Aadhaar card online you need enrolment ID or UID number, if you have lost it you can retrieve it.PS: retrieving the information online requires registered mobile number, without a registered mobile number, if don’t have a registered mobile number this method is not possible. To register mobile number, I have mentioned below. However, if you have provided an email ID during registration, this method can be used. PS: sometimes the OTP will take more time to be delivered to your email, and this is why most of the time UIDAI recommend to have a registered mobile number.
Registered mobile number
Without the registered mobile number or if you have still not registered a mobile number with the Aadhaar card, this it is not possible to Aadhar card download online. So if you have not registered, visit your nearest Aadhaar enrolment center and place the request to the staff, get the form for updating and then register a mobile number.
Step by step procedure to aadhar card download
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI official website for aadhar card download or click here https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: On the page, you will find a heading “Aadhaar Online Services” and 3 option in different colour boxes “Aadhaar Enrolment”, “Aadhaar Update”, and “Aadhaar Services”. Under the “Aadhaar Enrolment” you can find an option “Download Aadhaar”, Select this option or click here https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/popup
Step 3: Now a new page opens with the heading “E-Aadhaar”, and a fill-up form below it. At the beginning of the fill-up form, you will notice a feature that says “I have” and an option to select from two, “Enrolment ID” and “Aadhaar” select the option Aadhar number or enrolment number, select the option according to the data you have in hand, PS: for both the option the fill-up form procedure is the same.
Step 4: If you change the default “I have” option, the form will refresh and then, you can start filling in the form, enter your Aadhaar number, full name, Pin Code, and the code as displayed in the Captcha.
Step 5: Now press the “Get One Time Password” button below. The server will send an OTP to your registered mobile number and email ID,
Step 6: Check your mobile or email id, and enter the OTP as received, below, and press the button “Validate & Download”
Step 7: Now if the OTP and the details entered matches the records, the E-Aadhaar file will be downloaded as a Pdf file to your system.
Step 8: The Pdf file is password protected and you cannot open it without a valid password. Do not worry, the password to your Pdf file is a combination of 8 characters. The first 4 characters are the first 4 letters of your name and the remaining 4 characters is your date of birth. For example, if your name was Martin James and date of birth is 01-01-2000, then your password will be Mart2000. PS: Password is case sensitive.
Step 9: enter this password in the dialogue box that appears on the screen requesting the password and press enter. Your Pdf E-Aadhaar file will open and you can print out the E-Aadhaar.
In case you have lost your Enrolment number or Aadhaar number. Here is the step by step procedure for retrieving the lost enrolment number/Aadhaar number.
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website or click here instead https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: You will find on the left-hand side a heading “Aadhaar Online Services” and 3 subheadings below it. These sub-headings will be placed in different coloured boxes. Under the sub-heading “Aadhaar Enrolment” you can will the last option as “Retrieve Lost UID/EID”. Select this option or click here instead https://resident.uidai.gov.in/find-uid-eid
Step 3: Now you are redirected to a new page with a heading “Retrieve EID/UID” and a fill-up form below it. On the left-hand side, you can see two option, “Aadhaar Number (UID)” and “Enrolment Number (EID)” select the option you want.
Step 4: Now, on the right-hand side you can find a fill-up form requesting you to enter the full name, Email, Mobile, and code as shown in the captcha. Enter these details carefully and re-check once you finish.
Step 5: click “Send OTP” button after completing the fill-in, now the server will send an OTP to your Mobile number and Email ID.
Step 6: Check the email or mobile number and enter the OTP in the box on the right side and press the “Verify OTP” button.
Now if the details entered and the OTP entered matches the records, the “UID/EID” will be displayed on the screen. You can now use this Enrolment number or Aadhaar number for downloading the E-Aadhaar.
